The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry, Fisheries and Biosecurity (MAFFB) convened the inaugural meeting of the Authority in the week of 22 to 25 March 2021 in Port Vila. Primary producers from all six provinces were invited to this meeting, representing many of the primary productive areas in agriculture, livestock, forestry, horticulture, fisheries and aquaculture.
Helping farmers to improve the quality of their root crops such as yam, taro, cassava and sweet potato was the objective of a training held recently in Luganville, Santo.
The Vanuatu Primary Producers’ Authority (VPPA) has now established itself following the appointment of its Board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Office Bearers
The election of the Vanuatu Primary Producers’ Authority (VPPA) Board is expected to take place today (Wednesday).
The board will be elected through the National VPPA Forum comprising of provincial primary producers’ representatives.
The Vanuatu Commodities Marketing Board (VCMB) Act [CAP 133] has been repealed.
The Official Gazette No. 10 of 2020, dated 13 February 2020, officially makes the repeal by parliament effective.
