The Internship
The VPPA, in collaboration with the PHAMA Plus program, is conducting an agriculture internship program. The VPPA is inviting applicants for five internship positions in its office in Port Vila. The successful applicants will work under a tutelage program for one year. This is a robust agriculture internship that will offer a comprehensive learning experience. Successful applicants must be prepared to deliver excellent customer service and approach tasks with a positive, can-do attitude. You will learn hands-on skills and experience in listening to and working through problems raised by primary producers. You will work on placement rosters with other government entities to gain wider knowledge in problem-solving and build working relationships with key personnel in these organizations. This is an opportunity to put your college or university knowledge into practice.
Career Options
Upon completion of the program, the successful applicants will be offered work contract opportunities with the Authority as Provincial Officers. Provincial Officers will be required to live and work alongside other government personnel in the provinces.
Role Summary
To work with the office of the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of the Vanuatu Producers Primary Authority to perform the duties outlined, ensuring that the organization achieves its objectives in accordance with the Vanuatu Producers Primary Authority Act. The interns will report to the Chief Executive Officer.
Duties
- Assist to organize, coordinate, and administer Provincial Forum meetings and activities
- Assist with reporting on provincial activities to the National Forum
- Assist to provide support to VPPA members
- Provide support to VPPA staff with other daily duties
- Perform other duties as directed by the office of the Chief Executive Officer

Qualifications and Skills Requirements
- A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, rural development, science, or environment
- Some work experience in the primary productive sector or rural communities will be beneficial
- Can manage complex issues in the primary productive sector
- Very good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Skill and ability to meet datelines
- Good administrative and MS Office skills
- Maintain confidentiality of office records
