The Vanuatu Primary Producers Authority (VPPA), in collaboration with representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry, Fisheries and Biosecurity (MALFB) and the Department of Communication and Digital Transformation (DCDT), has successfully completed a three-day Training of Trainers (ToT) for the new Digital Farmer Registry (DFR), with financial support from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
Representatives from Vanuatu participated in the Regional Workshop on Catalyzing Agrifood Systems through Digitalization, held from 2–3 December 2025 in Suva, Fiji, under the FAO project TCP/SAP/3909 – Catalyzing Agrifood Systems through Digitalization.
The workshop brought together participating Pacific Island countries and key stakeholders to share national experiences, progress, challenges and priorities in advancing digital agriculture, with particular focus on the development of National E-Agriculture Strategies and implementation of the Digital Farmer Registry (DFR).
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry and Biosecurity (MALFB) officially received Digital Farmer Registry (DFR) equipment from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) during a handover ceremony held to strengthen the implementation of Vanuatu's Digital Farmer Registry Project.

VPPA’s Sanma Provincial Officer, together with the Market Research & Business Advisor and Data Entry Officer, was recently in Santo to run the Sanma Provincial Forum meeting. The Sanma Provincial Forum was a 1-day event held in Luganville’s Ports & Harbour Building on 17th March 2026 and attended by 22 producers, 5 government staff, including Biosecurity, Forestry, VPPA, and 4 NBV officers. A total of 21 resolutions were taken from Sanma producers during the forum.
