The Minister of Agriculture Livestock Forestry Fisheries & Biosecurity (MALFFB) made a visit to the Vanuatu Primary Producers Authority (VPPA) on Wednesday the 16th of October, where he was warmly welcomed by the VPPA Chief Executive Officer and staff. The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration between the Ministry and agricultural stakeholders in advancing the sector.
During discussions with the VPPA leadership, the Minister emphasized the critical role of the farmer's database currently being populated. The database is intended to accurately gather and update information on farmers nationwide, ensuring their needs are better understood, addressed and data is fit for purpose.
The farmer's database is an essential tool for shaping policies that truly fit this purpose. By having reliable data, we can offer targeted support and enhance the efficiency and effective agricultural programs.
The CEO of VPPA expressed the organization's full support for the initiative and underscored the importance of such technological advancements in empowering smallholder farmers and improving agricultural outcomes.
The visit concluded with a tour of the VPPA office, where the Minister was briefed on ongoing programs and future plans to assist farmers nationwide.
