The Authority has approved groupings of Vanuatu’s primary products into 13 Product Groups as listed below. The Product Groups are based on the information collected from each primary producer and what they are producing, and grouping these into similar product types, example root crops or fisheries & aquaculture. To establish a Product Group (PG) the Authority considered the quantity produced and commercial impact (or strength) of each primary product and whether a single product type should be placed in a PG (example Kava or Sandalwood) or to have several similar product types grouped into a PG (example small livestock). Primary producers that have been registered under the VPPA will be managed under individual Provincial primary product groups in the setting of a Province and, in an Area Product Group in a defined locality.
