TAFEA Farmers Learn About VPPA

    Understanding the functions of the newly established Vanuatu Primary Producers Authority (VPPA) was the main objective of a two-day forum held recently on Tanna for TAFEA farmers. 

     50 farmers from Tanna, Aniwa, Aneityum, Futuna and Erromango who were on Tanna for the National Week of Agriculture, attended the TAFEA Farmer Provincial Forum.

    VPPA Forums elicit recommendations for Gov’t

    Recommendations raised during the Vanuatu Primary Producers Authority (VPPA) forums for farmers will be raised to the government level.

    VPPA Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Timothy Tumukon, made the statement as VPPA recently hosted the forum in the provinces of MALAMPA and PENAMA.

    Businessman says Vanuatu ready for export

    A Tannese businessman and farmer, Nelson Niras, believes now is the best time for Vanuatu to export products to regional and international markets.

    He made the remarks during a recent forum on Tanna held by the Vanuatu Producers Primary Authority (VPPA) for TAFEA farmers.

    Establishment of the VPPA Board and appointment of its CEO and other Officers

    The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry, Fisheries and Biosecurity (MAFFB) convened the inaugural meeting of the Authority in the week of 22 to 25 March 2021 in Port Vila. Primary producers from all six provinces were invited to this meeting, representing many of the primary productive areas in agriculture, livestock, forestry, horticulture, fisheries and aquaculture.

     

    Rollout of root crops quality improvement training for farmers

    Helping farmers to improve the quality of their root crops such as yam, taro, cassava and sweet potato was the objective of a training held recently in Luganville, Santo.
