The Vanuatu Primary Producers Authority (VPPA) has enhanced its farmer registration process with the introduction of eight new tablets, received on February 7th. This upgrade aims to improve efficiency and eliminate the need for transporting heavy paper documents, a challenge faced since registration efforts began in 2021.
During a recent visit to Malekula, VPPA staff, in partnership with PHAMA Plus, used the tablets while conducting farmer training sessions. The digital registration process significantly reduced processing time and simplified data collection.
Farmers in Lorlow, South West Bay, including those from nearby villages such as Melip, Malvakal, Limbenwen, and Lawa, participated in the training and registration. Similar sessions were held in Lamap village, where local farmers learned about VPPA and the benefits of registration. Additionally, VPPA staff carried out registrations in Lakatoro over two days, successfully achieving the objectives of the Malekula trip in collaboration with other stakeholders.
