Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Job Advertisement

    The successful applicants will be offered work contract opportunities with the Authority as Chief Executive Officer for a period of five (5) years.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide Overall leadership, vision and strategic planning initiatives to achieve the Strategic objectives of the Authority
    • Provide strategic advice to the Board and Chairperson.
    • Work with the VPPA Board to determine values, mission and plan for short-and long­term goals
    • Make high-level decisions about policy and strategy
    • To attend all meetings of the Board
    • To manage the day to day administration and affairs of the Authority
    • Communicate and maintain trust relationships with stakeholders, business partners and producers
    • Delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of officers, providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance.
    • Work with Senior managers, Chief Finance Officer, providing administrative officer, data manager and other executives
    • Review all submitted reports by lower rank managers to reward performance, prevent issues, and resolve problems
    • Analyse problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions to ensure company survival and growth.
    • Assure all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.
    • Create an environment that promotes good performance and positive morale
    • Undertake all duties as mandated under the VPPA Act
    • To ensure that all decisions of the Board are implemented effectively and efficiently
    • To carry such other functions as may be assigned to him or her by the Board

    Qualifications and Skills Requirements:

    • Applicant must have at least a Bachelor degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, Management, Economics or similar field from a recognized university
    • The candidate must have at least 10 years’ experience in the rural and productive sector development, where he/she has spent at least 3 years plus in an executive role (CEO, Managing Director, Manager, Head of Department or similar)
    • Proven experience as CEO or in other managerial positions.
    • Must be familiar with the (primary, processing) productive sector business environment
    • Experience in developing profitable strategies and implementing vision.
    • Strong understanding of corporate finance and performance management principles.
    • Familiarity and diverse business functions such as marketing, public relation etc.
    • In-depth knowledge of corporate governance and general management best practices.
    • An entrepreneurial mindset with outstanding organizational and leadership skills
    • Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
    • Some Experience in the Primary Productive Sector or Rural Communities will be beneficial
    • Can Manage complex issues in the primary productive sector
    • Very good interpersonal skills
