Officers from the Vanuatu Primary Producers Authority (VPPA) and other government departments participated in a hands-on Digital Farmer Registry (DFR) Enumerator Training in Port Vila on 30 September 2026.
The training focused on the DFR mobile application, equipping participants with practical skills to register farmers and collect accurate information in the field. Key areas included farmer registration, offline data collection, uploading records and managing submissions.
During the practical sessions, participants used the mobile application to complete test farmer registrations and work through the full enumerator workflow. This included logging into the application, registering farmers, uploading records, submitting registrations for administrative approval, completing additional forms and sending submissions for review.
Participants also learned how to review and manage their submissions and understand the different stages of the registration and approval process.
A key feature demonstrated during the training was the application’s offline capability, which enables enumerators to register farmers in areas with limited or no internet connectivity and synchronize the collected information once a connection becomes available.
The training also introduced participants to offline satellite maps, farmer consent, data protection and good practices for collecting accurate and reliable farmer information in the field.
The training highlighted the important role enumerators play in the success of the DFR. Accurate and complete information collected in the field is essential to maintaining a reliable national farmer registry and supporting better agricultural planning and service delivery.
The session concluded with practical exercises, troubleshooting, a knowledge check and participant feedback, helping prepare officers to confidently use the DFR mobile application for farmer registration activities across Vanuatu.
