The Vanuatu Primary Producers Authority (VPPA), in collaboration with representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry, Fisheries and Biosecurity (MALFB) and the Department of Communication and Digital Transformation (DCDT), has successfully completed a three-day Training of Trainers (ToT) for the new Digital Farmer Registry (DFR), with financial support from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The training enhanced the capacity of administrators and field officers to effectively manage the DFR platform, use the mobile application for offline farmer registration and data collection, support farmers through the Smart Farmer ID (QR Code), and deliver future training in preparation for the nationwide DFR pilot rollout.

The Digital Farmer Registry marks a major step forward in modernizing farmer registration, strengthening agricultural data management, and improving digital service delivery across Vanuatu. Through the DFR mobile application, farmers and field officers can capture, update, and synchronize live farmer, crop, and livestock data, ensuring that accurate and up-to-date information is available to support evidence-based planning, informed decision-making, and more effective agricultural services.

This achievement represents another significant milestone in advancing a smarter, more resilient, and digitally connected agriculture sector in Vanuatu, empowering farmers through innovation and strengthening the country's agricultural future.
