VPPA OFFICIALLY REGISTERS PIGGERY FARMER AT YABANGLES VILLAGE, WEST TANNA

On September 1, 2025, the Vanuatu Primary Producers Authority (VPPA) Officer for TAFEA Province, Mr. Alvan Natuoivi, officially registered a piggery farmer, Mr. Iasitu, under the VPPA product Group for small Livestock.

The registration was carried out in collaboration with the Livestock Officer, who accompanied Mr. Natuoivi to inspect the piggery farm at Yabangles Village, West Tanna.

Mr. Iasitu’s Piggery farm is a classic example of a serious and committed farmer who has transformed his piggery farm into a business activity. With Financial Support from the National Bank of Vanuatu through its Modern Generation Agriculture Loan (MGA), he had successfully managed his farm for the past year.

Currently, Mr. Iasitu is raising 32 pigs, including both local breeds and cross-breeds. His well-maintained piggery farm demonstrates not only his dedication but also his vision for sustainable livestock farming.

During the visit, the VPPA Officer praised Mr. Iasitu for taking the bold steps of investing in piggery farming, describing him as a role model piggery farmer who has moved beyond his comfort zone into the growth zone. Mr. Natuoivi encouraged him to continue increasing his pig production to meet the growing demand of domestic market. The VPPA officer also advised the farmer to develop a piggery farm record book to record and monitor his production, which will help improve management and future planning.
