VPPA Board consists of Chairman Peter Napwatt (Chief Executive Officer of Agriculture College and TAFEA representative), Vice Chairman Tom Robert (SHEFA representative), Amsen Willie (MALAMPA representative), Graham Sele (SANMA representative), Joel Tari (PENAMA representative), Shadrack Welegtabit (TORBA representative), Director General (DG) of the Ministry of Lands Arthur Faerua, DG of Trades Roy Mickey Joy, DG of Finance August Letlet, DG of the Ministry of Agriculture Moses Amos and the VPPA CEO.
The board appointed the former Director of the Department of Biosecurity (DoB), Timothy Tumukon, as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of VPPA. Tumukon was VPPA’s interim CEO until his appointment yesterday.
Apart from the CEO, the board also appointed Helleno Kenneth as the Board Secretary and Pakoa Lui as the Chief Financial Controller. CEO Tumukon will oversee the day-to-day management of the primary producers’ affairs.
VPPA will function independently from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry, Fisheries and Biosecurity (MALFFB) but will assist MALFFB with data information that will be captured directly from its member producers. VPPA’s major role is to address primary producer’s welfare such as funding support and market challenges.
